Itineraries

“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
- Oscar Wilde

Irish, or Gaelic (gale-ick) is the official language of Ireland, along with English. For centuries, it was the only language spoken but due to the English invasion, it slowly died out and is now only spoken as a first language in certain parts of the country. However, all Irish people learn Gaelic in school from a young age. There are certain Gaelic words that are essential during your self catering Sunlight Properties holiday in Dublin. Below is a list of terms to get you by!

Week 4 – Whistle-stop tour of Ireland!

Dublin is a fantastic city, but Ireland is a fantastic country! During your Sunlight Properties holiday, rent a car and head north to Northern Ireland for a few days. See the world famous Giant's Causeway, visit Belfast and the Titanic Experience. Alternatively, you can get the train which only takes two hours or join a bus tour.

The west coast of Ireland is a world away from Dublin and buzzing city life. Visit Conemara in Co. Galway and enjoy the isolation and natural beauty that surrounds you. Stop off in Co. Clare for some of the most beautiful coast line in the country. From the awe inspiring Cliffs of Moher to the surfing haven of Lahinch beach, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the west coast of Ireland. You can reach this part of the country by bus, train or hire car from your vacation property in Dublin.

Continue on your trip south and experience the Ring of Kerry, visit Fungi the Dolphin, who has lived off the Dingle Peninsula (An Daingean) for decades. Transport yourself to another world in west Cork and let the spectacular views of Mizen Head, the most southerly point in Ireland, remind you of the beauty and power of Mother Nature. On your way back north, stop off at Blarney Castle on the northern side of Cork city and kiss the famous stone to get the “gift of the gab”! Cork city is just a three hour journey from Dublin, which makes a day trip from your holiday rental home an easy task!

Finally, visit Kilkenny the historic city that dates back to the 6th Century and enjoy this pretty town - visit the castle and experience a night out in one of the many buzzing bars and nightclubs. If you are in Kilkenny in June, be sure not to miss the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival. Kilkenny is just a short two hour drive from your holiday rental apartment in Dublin, and a great day out.

After all that, you will be delighted to get back to the luxury and comfort of your Sunlight Properties holiday rental home!
